MHIP Federal Program Offers Low Cost Option

As of July 1, 2011, the MHIP Federal Program offers a lower cost option for individuals who meet income guidelines. The lower cost option is called MHIP Federal+ and is available to all MHIP Federal members. Household income guidelines for different family sizes may be found on the MHIP web site, along with the monthly rates. The actual monthly rate also depends on your age.
The MHIP Federal+ option is another step in the right direction toward providing coverage for Marylanders who are currently without insurance. MHIP Federal is available to Marylanders who have been without insurance for 6 continuous months and who have been denied coverage due to a medical condition or who have a qualifying disease.
